Marla’s First Birthday Party
On Veterans Day weekend, I got the pleasure of spending time with Lauren’s sisters family (The Golson’s) in Kansas City. Allison’s in laws and friends and Thomas’s co-workers and friends all showed up at an old golf course that the city bought and turned into a giagantic park. They turned the old clubhouse into a real nice event space and that is where the star of the show had her first birthday party.
Marla, the birthday girl, was such a delight to be around. She was laughing and playing, dancing and smiling for me the entire weekend, even while fighting off an ear infection. She got so much attention and just ate it all up. She really is a Blanken girl!
Emily, Lauren’s youngest sister, took over the photographer duties from me for about a half an hour and gave me a break, which I think I deserved after setting up the event all morning. She was a natural behind the glass.
Both of Marla’s grandmas where there and they both had the biggest smiles on their faces, all day. They were so happy and proud of their Granddaughter. I spent most of the time with Lauren’s mother, Denise. Denise is always in a great spirits, but this occasion was very special for her. I never once looked her way and not see a smile on her face. She was beaming.
Overall, it’s hard work crawling around on the floor trying to get photos of the birthday girl. I am hoping to get another invite, but in around 10 years so I dont have to crawl around on my hands and knees with two cameras!!
